Many of you have probably seen the movie Forest Gump.  In this movie, Tom Hanks portrays the character personality of great innocence, leaving room for growth and development in many different aspects within the movie.  This particular scene, where Forest is waiting for the bus and sitting next to an kindly old lady, he is expressing one of his many innocent moments where he reveals his instilled perception of life.  This scene is relevant to the topic of this blog entry because it deals with a certain important element of our existence, and that is the uncertainty of every moment of our lives.

Forest realizes that throughout his struggles and his accomplishments, you never know what lies ahead of you in each moment of your life.  With this in mind, I want to review a few statistics that I have picked up through the 2010 statistics from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(Click here for their website).  Each year, approximately 2.5 million people die in the United States.  Most of these deaths occur due to health issues endured through a certain period of time.  Approximately 120,000 deaths occur by way of accidental and unintentional injury.  These types of deaths are ones that I refer to as the "Box of Chocolate" deaths.  Unexpected, unintentional, and no time for preparation...you never know what the result of each future moment is until it happens.  One of the most saddening statistics I have seen is the death rate due to Intentional self-harm, which is approximately 38,000 deaths per year.  Please consider these statistics as you read on.

Everyone has dealt with tragedy at some point in their life.  It could be the death of a friend, the death of a friend's family member, or even a death of a close family member.  Take a moment and THINK ABOUT YOURSELF.  Take a moment and imagine an out of body experience, where you've passed and you can see your loved ones.  Mourning is a huge part of the process, but the part that many people don't think about is the financial struggle.  When a breadwinner passes, those who survive that individual must then take on the financial burden of making up for what has been lost or will not be gained financially.  Everyone knows the answer to this problem is Life Insurance.

Life Insurance is a difficult thing to think about.  When speaking to clients, rather than mentioning death, I prefer to talk about life after death.  Life insurance helps answer the questions, "What will we do now?", "How are we going to pay for the mortgage?", "How are we going to put food on the table?".  The money that life insurance can bring for a low cost is important, because money should not be an issue during the mourning process.  Money should be the last thing on your mind.  Nobody wants to go to work or to worry about money when they've lost a loved one.  That's why I feel strongly about the importance of this investment.

I will end today's blog here.  It is important to me to paint you this picture here, because before you hear about details on what life insurance can do, you need to know why it even exists.  People have created life insurance to invest money, and to take stress away from the tragedies we face.  Know why it is important to you, before you consider purchasing life insurance.
